Here is a little example how I developed into piece D modelling. Simply I used the pleating. I pleated the square paper and copied the D piece onto it. Then having it cut I got a new pattern which you can see in the third photo. It looks completely different. - Do not forget when you are pleating you have to mark its folds and lands.
